Our Colorado Trip

Over the 4th of July weekend, our family went drove (yes, you read that correctly) to Pagosa Springs, CO.  The girls were great travelers.  We left Boerne at 4am and drove straight thru (with some nursing stops and lunch in El Paso with one of Grady's friends).  Around 9:30pm, we were about an hour outside of Pagosa Springs, when we hit an elk (with my new car).  The car had to be towed into Pagosa.  Fortunately, Greg and Susan were already in Pagosa and had a rent car.  The bad news was that since it was a holiday weekend, there were no rent cars for us!  Even though we weren't able to do some of the hikes we had planned, we did have a really fun time hanging out with the Schuchardt's whose kids and grandbabies were also in Pagosa for the weekend. I must warn you, there will be A LOT of pictures.

My poor car!  On the way home, we saw the bloated, dead elk on the side of the road!  She was huge!

On Sunday, we went to the Pagosa Springs carnival.  Up first, the flying elephants!

Demí wanted to ride the "big wheel."  At first, she was a little tense, but after a couple of spins, she started saying "weeeee!" and "big wheel fun!"

This was her favorite ride!
We rode it twice!
On the 4th of July, we drove into town for the Pagosa Spring parade.

Before the parade started, we watched some boaters on the river.
Hi Kellyn!  Kellyn wasn't too sure about Demí at first.
